Full Day Tour: Lake Titicaca, Copacabana & Sun Island from La Paz

Your day begins early in La Paz, with hotel pick-up between 7:00 and 7:30 am (only for hotels in the city center). You will travel across the vast and scenic Bolivian Altiplano, where endless plains meet snow-capped peaks. After approximately two hours, you will reach the narrow Tiquina Strait. Here, a short crossing in small local boats, alongside friendly community residents, gives you your first close encounter with the lake’s waters.

By midday, you will arrive in Copacabana, a charming lakeside town famous for its vibrant atmosphere and the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Copacabana. A delicious lunch in a local restaurant awaits you, with dishes inspired by traditional lake cuisine.

In the afternoon, your adventure continues with a public boat ride across the shimmering blue waters of Lake Titicaca to Sun Island, a place steeped in history and legend. Upon arrival at the Yumani community, you will explore key Inca sites such as the Pilcocaina Temple, the Inca Stairway, and the Fountain of the Three Waters. These ancient places tell stories of the Inca civilization, while the panoramic views of the Royal Mountain Range and the lake create unforgettable photo opportunities.

After enjoying the island’s peaceful atmosphere, you will return by boat to Copacabana. Before leaving, you will visit the famous Sanctuary of the Virgin of Copacabana, an important religious site and pilgrimage destination.

At 6:30 pm, you will board your bus back to La Paz, traveling under the glow of the Andean sunset. By around 10:30 pm, you will arrive at the city’s bus terminal, where a transfer will take you directly to your hotel, marking the end of a memorable day on Lake Titicaca.
