TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Bolivia Highlights

By contracting the services of Bolivia Highlights, whether directly or through an intermediary, the client fully accepts the following Terms and Conditions. These terms are binding and cannot be disregarded or claimed as unknown under any circumstances.


1. Service Contract

A service contract with Bolivia Highlights is established only once a written confirmation document is issued. This confirmation is provided after receipt of the client’s request and the corresponding full or partial payment, as agreed in the quotation.


2. Quotations and Reservations

Quotations are prepared according to the client’s specific requests. Prices are quoted per person and include only the services explicitly mentioned in the itinerary.

Not included unless expressly stated:

  • Personal expenses

  • Taxes not specified

  • Tips

  • Phone calls

  • Any service not mentioned in the itinerary

Bolivia Highlights reserves the right to modify the order of activities or routes for operational, safety, or logistical reasons. Any changes will be communicated promptly with justification.

Prices are based on current rates and exchange conditions at the time of quotation and may change due to:

  • Transportation or fuel costs

  • Accommodation or supplier rate changes

  • Exchange rate fluctuations

  • Government taxes or fees

  • Peak periods (Christmas, New Year, Carnival, high season)


3. Modifications

a) Modifications by the Client

Any modification requested after confirmation is subject to availability and may incur additional costs.

b) Modifications by Bolivia Highlights

Bolivia Highlights reserves the right to modify itineraries, schedules, or excursions in whole or in part due to force majeure, including but not limited to weather conditions, strikes, road conditions, natural events, or government regulations.

Such modifications do not entitle the client to compensation. Any additional expenses caused by unforeseen circumstances beyond the organizer’s control shall be borne by the client.


4. Role and Responsibility

Bolivia Highlights acts as an intermediary between clients and independent service providers (transport, accommodation, restaurants, guides, airlines, etc.).

Bolivia Highlights shall not be held liable for delays, cancellations, injuries, losses, or damages caused by third parties or events beyond its reasonable control (force majeure).

Clients are strongly advised to purchase comprehensive travel insurance.


5. Travel Insurance and Documentation

  • Transportation services are covered by SOAT (Mandatory Traffic Accident Insurance) where applicable.

  • Travel insurance is mandatory. If not purchased independently, Bolivia Highlights may arrange it at an additional cost.

  • Adventure sports and high-risk activities do not include insurance coverage.

Clients must carry valid travel documents (passport, visas, vaccinations, permits). Bolivia Highlights is not responsible for denied entry or penalties due to documentation issues. Any resulting costs and cancellations will be borne by the client.


6. Health and Risks

Clients declare that they are in adequate physical and medical condition to participate in the contracted activities. Bolivia Highlights must be informed in advance of any medical condition that may affect participation.

Travel in Bolivia may involve altitude, climate variations, and physical activity. Participation is at the client’s own risk.


7. Children Policy

  • Children 0–2 years: free of charge, sharing services with parents

  • Children 2–8 years: special rates may apply (quotation required)

  • Children over 8 years: adult rates apply

Hotel policies regarding children are subject to each provider’s terms.


8. Air Tickets

Airline reservations are generally held for a maximum of 24 hours. Full payment and complete passenger details are required for ticket issuance.

Once issued, air tickets are subject exclusively to the airline’s cancellation and modification policies and are generally non-refundable.


9. Conduct Policy

Bolivia Highlights reserves the right to exclude any participant whose behavior, health condition, or actions jeopardize the safety, harmony, or success of the tour. No refund shall be issued in such cases.


10. Luggage

Luggage is not part of the service contract and remains under the sole responsibility of the client. Bolivia Highlights assumes no liability for loss, damage, or delays related to luggage.


11. Prices

Prices may be adjusted, even after confirmation, due to:

  • Fuel price changes

  • Tax increases

  • Government-controlled fees (parks, museums, monuments)

  • Supplier rate changes

Prepaid services maintain confirmed rates, except for air tickets.


12. Payment Methods

Payments may be made via bank transfer or electronic methods. All bank or transfer fees are the responsibility of the client.


13. Cancellations and Refunds

General

All cancellations must be submitted in writing.

Groups

  • 6 days before first service: 30% penalty

  • 5–3 days before first service: 50% penalty

  • 2 days or less / no-show: 100% penalty

Individuals

  • 3 days before first service: 30% penalty

  • 2–1 days before first service: 50% penalty

  • Same day / no-show: 100% penalty

Air tickets are non-refundable once issued.


14. Uyuni – Special Cancellation Policy

High Season (September–April)

  • 45–30 days: 35% penalty

  • 29–15 days: 60% penalty

  • 14–0 days: 100% penalty

Low Season (May–August)

Groups

  • 30–15 days: 35%

  • 14–7 days: 60%

  • 6–0 days: 100%

Individuals

  • 10–8 days: 35%

  • 7–3 days: 60%

  • 2–0 days: 100%

Prepaid hotels in Uyuni are non-refundable.


15. Data Protection (GDPR)

Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). Data is used exclusively for travel-related and contractual purposes.


16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Bolivia.
