Ready for an unforgettable adventure without breaking the bank?
This 2-day shared expedition is designed for travelers who want to maximize their experience while meeting like-minded people from around the world. We combine the “must-see” classics of the Uyuni Salt Flats—like the Train Cemetery and perspective photos—with a unique twist: the healing Tomave Hot Springs.
Traveling in a comfortable 4WD with a small group (max 6 people), you’ll explore the vast white desert and the vibrant Andean highlands. It’s the perfect balance of adventure, social connection, and value.

We begin our expedition traveling back in time to the 19th century. Here, you will find massive British steam locomotives resting in the middle of the desert—remnants of Bolivia's first railway era. It is a surreal landscape, perfect for artistic and industrial-style photography.
Located at the very edge of the Salar, Colchani is the gateway to the white desert. You will observe the traditional process of manual salt extraction and visit a small museum made entirely of salt blocks. It is also the best place to find authentic llama wool handicrafts.
We drive deep into the world’s largest salt flat (over 10,000 km²). In the middle of this immense white canvas, the horizon disappears. We will stop to take the famous fun perspective photos (using toy dinosaurs and props) and feel the overwhelming silence of the Andes.
An ancient coral reef turned into an island in a sea of salt. We hike to the top of Incahuasi to walk among giant cacti that are hundreds of years old. The 360-degree view from the summit provides the best panoramic photos of the Salar. (Note: In rainy season, this stop is replaced by the "Mirror Effect" experience).
We end the first day with an unforgettable show. As the sun sets, the white desert reflects pink, orange, and purple hues. We will set up a small table with local wine and snacks to toast this magical moment before heading to our accommodation.
After breakfast, we leave the salt behind to explore the colorful highlands. We drive through the Valley of Rocks, featuring volcanic formations sculpted by the wind into strange shapes. We also visit high-altitude lagoons, home to Andean wildlife like vicuñas, suris (Andean ostrich), and flamingos.
The perfect finale. We visit the quiet village of Tomave to soak in natural medicinal hot springs. The water is approximately 40ºC (104ºF) and is rich in minerals, ideal for relaxing your muscles after the adventure. We return to Uyuni refreshed and ready for your next journey.
Uyuni is located at 3,656 meters (12,000 ft) above sea level. Most travelers feel a bit short of breath but adjust quickly. We recommend staying hydrated, eating light meals, and avoiding alcohol on the first day. Our jeeps are equipped with an oxygen tank for emergencies.
Description:
Warm layers: Temperatures drop drastically at night (can reach -10ºC in winter). Bring thermal underwear, a fleece, and a windproof jacket.
Sun protection: High SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat (the sun reflection on the salt is very strong).
Swimsuit & Towel: Essential for the Tomave Hot Springs!
Yes! We can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diets if you inform us at the time of booking. Our meals are freshly prepared by the driver/cook, usually consisting of local soups, pasta/quinoa, vegetables, and meat for non-vegetarians.
The giant mirror effect happens during the rainy season, typically from January to April. During these months, water covers the salt flat.
Dry Season (May-Oct): You can access Incahuasi Island and see the geometric salt patterns. Both seasons are beautiful!
On this tour, we stay in a traditional Salt Hostel. It is a unique experience where walls and beds are made of salt blocks!
Shared Tour: Double or triple rooms with shared bathrooms.
Private Tour: We can upgrade you to a private room with a private bathroom (subject to availability).
Note: Heating is basic, so warm clothes are essential for the night.
