We begin our adventure by picking you up from your Hotel, Bus Station, or Uyuni Airport. Our first stop is the iconic Train Cemetery. Here, you will see 19th-century steam locomotives (imported from the UK and USA in 1873) resting in the desert. It is a photographer's playground, perfect for artistic and industrial-style photos.
Next, we drive 30 minutes to Colchani, the gateway to the Salar. You will observe the traditional salt extraction process and visit a local family-run factory. It’s also the perfect spot to browse the handicraft market for unique souvenirs made of salt and alpaca wool.
We venture into the vast Uyuni Salt Flats. You will feel the crunch of salt crystals under our 4x4 Jeep. We will stop in the middle of the white desert to enjoy a special local lunch (Vegetarian/Vegan options available upon request).
With the blinding white background and lack of horizon, the Salar is the best place on Earth for "perspective photography." Our guide will help you stage funny and creative photos using toy dinosaurs, Pringles cans, or boots—let your imagination run wild!
Dry Season Highlight: We continue to the center of the Salar to visit Incahuasi Island. We will hike to the top (approx. 45 min) among ancient coral rocks and giant cacti that are hundreds of years old. The 360° panoramic view from the summit is breathtaking.
To finish this unforgettable day, we drive to a secluded spot covered in water (or near the edge) to watch the sunset. Witness the sky turning into a palette of fiery reds, oranges, and pinks reflecting on the salt. A moment of pure magic before returning to Uyuni.
Sun protection: High SPF sunscreen (50+), sunglasses, and lip balm.
Clothing: Layered clothes (t-shirt, sweater, and windproof jacket) to adjust to changing temperatures.
Essentials: Water, snacks, and extra cash (Bolivianos).
Fun photos: Bring your favorite toys or props (dinosaurs, Pringles cans, etc.) for the perspective pictures!
